This completely new residence is the main structure in the two-acre lot in Atherton. The residence consists of 10,000 square feet with a full basement, which house a three-car garage. The Mediterranean styled architecture can be seen throughout the design. The lateral system of the house utilized both wood shearwalls and steel ordinary moment frames. 16" deep wood I-joists and W12 steel wide flanges are used to achieve the open floor architecture design. Concrete wall and mat slab are designed to provide soils retaining and the structural supports for the two levels above.
