This project consists of a second story addition to an existing single-story home built in the 1940s. All the second level walls are offset from the first level walls, which provide structural challenges by created seismic vertical irregularity. Existing first level walls are strengthened to resist the additional lateral forces from wind and earthquake. Existing and new footings are also evaluated to support these additional gravity and lateral forces.
