Upon the purchase of this 1920s 2-story rectangular shaped home in Palo Alto, the new owner retained the architect to remodel the interior of the house and to add a 2-story addition with a new gas appliance fireplace. As part of the remodeling, the architect converted the existing partial basement into a finished wine cellar and created additional light wells. Since the existing garage footing was deteriorated, a new garage was built. 50% of the existing garage wall was salvaged in order to meet the grandfathering requirement for setback non-compliance.
